Manatee

Posted by Hello

Manatees are very large mammals that can be found in slow moving river, saltwater bays and coastal areas, mainly near North Carolina, Florida and even as far west as Alabama. This species is endangered and the most common form of human related deaths occur from them being hit by watercraft. An odd note I'd like to point out is the manatee's closest relatives are the elephant and the hyrax. The hyrax is a small furry animal that resembles a rodent. I don't remember if this is a fact or myth but, aren't elephants afraid of rodents (mice)? If so, this could also be a reason the manatees are endangered....

"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing." --Helen Keller
